The parish was established in 1678 and comprises the seigniory of Pocatière granted in 1672 to Marie-Anne Juchereau, widow of François Pollet, Sieur de la Combe-Pocatière. She added her Christian name to that of the freehold to form this name, later bestowed on the parish.
