On November 26, 1806, Buckland Township was erected. The English name of Buckland would have been borrowed in the name of an English surveyor, William Buckland, and an English town of the same name. We can always think of "deer's land". The first concessions were made in 1846. Buckland's mission has existed since 1853, and among the pioneers who first settled in Buckland with their families are the following names: Edward Girard, Marc Chabot, Antoine Chabot and Charles Carrier.
It was at the end of January 1853 that the first mass was said in the Township of Buckland by the Reverend Pierre Villeneuve, parish priest of Saint-Charles, in the house of Theodore Bédard, his nephew.
On November 3, 1856, at noon hour, the first blows of ax and ax were used to clear the site of the presbytery-chapel. The parish registers opened in 1857.
On November 1, 1857, the first baptism: Marie-Arthémise Audet, daughter of François-Xavier Audet and Marcelline Samson, of the Township of Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice of Buckland.

The first mayor of the parish was Mr. Édouard Tanguay from 1859 to 1860, and the first secretary treasurer was Mr. Damasse Nadeau, from 1859 to 1860.
On August 6, 1866, the first meeting of School Commissars of the Buckland and Mailloux School Municipality.
The first resident parish priest was M. J. Magloire Rioux, who served the mission until 1875. Louis-Théophile Houde replaced him from 1875 to 1885.
The current church, the first of the parish, was built in 1870.
On September 1, 1872, Bishop A.A. Taschereau gave the parish as Patron Our Lady Help of Christians.
On October 5, 1872, the priest Rioux and the parishioners obtained a judgment of the Court allowing the exhumation of the bodies of the old cemetery for burial in the new.
June 1880 marks the construction of the first presbytery.
Bishop Taschereau canonically erected the parish on July 27, 1882.
The civil erection took place on March 30, 1883, by virtue of Act 46 Victoria Chapter 40. The territory of the parish includes a part of the Cantons Buckland and Mailloux.
On January 1, 1885, the parish municipality of Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice de Buckland was erected under the Municipal Code.
The first aqueduct system in the village was built in 1888.
On January 22, 1904, the bell tower of the church was destroyed by a storm.
In 1933, the Municipal Corporation built itself a telephone service to serve the parish.
On July 1, 1956, the priestly ordination of Mr. Réal Corriveau, now bishop emeritus of Choluteca in Honduras, took place. This celebration was the first of its kind in the parish church since the founding of the parish.

In 1958, the parish priest J.Noël Blanchet had the Cement Cross built in 1935 to commemorate the place where the first Mass was celebrated in 1853. The place will be called the "Cave of Our Lady". Dame de Lourdes ", realizing the project of Father Blanchet to establish a monument to the memory of Our Lady of Lourdes. The cave was completed in July 1958 for the 100th anniversary of the parish, which should have been celebrated in 1957.

Le 26 novembre 1806, le Canton Buckland fut érigé. L'appellation anglaise de Buckland aurait été empruntée au nom d'un géomètre anglais, William Buckland, et d'une ville d'Angleterre du même nom. On peut toujours penser aussi à «terre de chevreuil». Les premières concessions y furent faites en 1846. L'église actuelle, la première de la paroisse, fut édifiée en 1870.
Le 1er septembre 1872, Mgr E.A. Taschereau donne à la paroisse comme patronne Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice.
Le 5 octobre 1872, le curé Rioux et les paroissiens obtiennent un jugement de la Cour permettant l'exhumation des corps de l'ancien cimetière pour inhumation dans le nouveau.
Juin 1880 marque la construction du premier presbytère.
Mgr Taschereau érige canoniquement la paroisse le 27 juillet 1882.

Le 1er janvier 1885, la municipalité de la paroisse de Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice de Buckland fut érigée en vertu du Code municipal.

L'endroit portera l'appellation de «grotte de Notre-Dame de Lourdes», réalisant le projet de l'abbé Blanchet d'instaurer un monument à la mémoire de Notre-Dame de Lourdes. La grotte fut terminée en juillet 1958 pour le 100e anniversaire de la paroisse, qui aurait dû être fêté en 1957.
